I saw a poster at school this morning when I was doing the school run, asking for donations for this year’s (2012) Shoe Box Appeal. (I have to confess that as I was rushing at the time I didn’t notice which charity our school is supporting – but will have a proper look later).

Note to self  - will any of the empty shoe boxes that I put in the garage (next to the ever expanding car boot pile) still be there or will hubby have thrown them out? hmm I probably know the answer to that already.

I have three boys who always enjoy putting together their own shoeboxes (obviously with a little help from me on the rules and regulations).  I find it’s a perfect time to discuss what other little boys’ lives might be like who are less fortunate than them, what they might wear, where they might live and what they might need. I feel this is a perfect time to remind my boys just how lucky they are, as at this time of year their minds are already turning to Christmas Lists! (Is it just me or does it seem to get earlier each year?)

Anyway, it got me thinking about all the different Shoebox Appeals that are desperate for donations. We tend to do shoeboxes for little boys (as that is what my little boys want to do), however, donations for Adults, both young and old, are appreciated just as much.

I thought this would be a good place to share your shoebox stories.
Let’s see if we can inspire those who’ve never donated a shoebox before to give it a try.

What’s your Shoebox Appeal? (which charity are you supporting)

Who’s your Shoebox for? (Boy/Girl/Man/Woman/Soldier etc)

Who’s getting involved in your family?

What’s going in your shoebox?

Do you have a photo of your finished shoe box and contents?
